This is because a web company has been harvesting tribe members network information (their tribe friends data), along with birthdays, etc from tribe using FOAF. Follow this thread and the developing story and technical ramifications on tribe...if it interests you...

Wed, May 7, 2008 - 1:20 PMThis has already happened. I can't forsee restoring it in the near future unless there's some rewriting of the FOAF specs to include some kind of authentication for the requesting party. -
