We launched the new Tribe.net today and support many of the FOAFNet features that we have been discussing at www.foafnet.org.
You can upload your FOAF file (for new users) and see who is already on the system. FOAF is also used for rapid registration (close to one click)
We also expose all users FOAF files in a way very similar to eCademy.
Hope you enjoy and look forward to your comments. Still more to do, but I am pretty excited about this first step.

Re: FOAF import and export now on Tribe
Wed, September 29, 2004 - 8:11 AMHey guys-
Unfortunately, at this point we only allow FOAF upload at registration time. At that point, we import your information and the list of friends that you have amassed on another FOAFnet compliant site and we look for that set of people on our system.
So for the established tribe user there is not yet functionality to "upload" your FOAF file. In the future, we will have a synchronization functionality that will allow you to sync up your friends list with your FOAF file from another system.
Until this nifty feature is available though, you are able to do interesting things like surf your friend network with a FOAF enabled browser, such as FOAF explorer[1]. The fact that profiles are now machine readable really begins to open up lots of possibilities for us and our FOAFnet colleagues.
Stay tuned for new features.

Re: FOAF import and export now on Tribe
Wed, September 29, 2004 - 7:15 PMI promise that FOAF merge will appear - can't really say when - but it's THAT funtioonality that matters to people who are ALREADY members of Tribe.
Let's see - "feature brings in more people?"
Gee - I wonder if they'll do that?
:-)
